The sculpture is realistic, although the artist did not pay particular attention to the detailed elaboration of the figures.
I hesitated for a long time before displaying this sculpture in the store, still hoping that during one of my numerous wanderings around the internet, I would finally come across an artist who signed his works with the initials AB. Unfortunately, I didn't succeed, so I'm displaying it.
The sculpture probably depicts the Good Samaritan. At least that is my interpretation of this representation. It is made of dark patinated bronze. It is the second of eight casts made. I bought it in France. And that is the only certainty I have. The sculpture is realistic, although the artist did not pay particular attention to the detailed elaboration of the figure. It may seem that the arrangement of the figures and the texture of the surface were much more important to the artist. On this basis, one can attempt to date it. It must have been created at a time when art had already abandoned the academic, slick representation of the human figure. Personally, I would guess the first three decades of the 20th century. Although it could have been created at any time during that period. Probably not later, because I bought it at the beginning of the 21st century and even then it did not look new.
It is a large sculpture, with a stone base measuring 41 by 26 by 3 centimeters. The bronze itself is 30 cm high, 28 cm long, and 20 cm wide.
