I can therefore confidently conclude that the sculpture depicts a centaur shooting a bow and is a representation of the zodiac sign Sagittarius, as evidenced by the inscription at the bottom.

The ancient Greeks caused quite a stir with the zodiac sign Sagittarius. They claimed that this constellation could not represent a centaur because centaurs did not shoot bows. In any case, centaurs did not have the best reputation in Greek mythology. This tribe, with bodies that were a hybrid of humans and horses, was portrayed as wild, violent, often drunk, eating raw meat from hunted animals, kidnapping people, and attempting to rape women. According to the principle that exceptions prove the rule, a few of them found their place in the sky. Chiron, the wisest of the centaurs, teacher of Jason, Heracles, and Achilles, leads the Argonauts to Colchis in the sky, while Alpha and Beta Centauri point to the Southern Cross. Krotos, as the inventor of the bow, has his own star. So I don't understand the Greeks' objections to centaurs using bows.

I can therefore accept with full conviction that the sculpture depicts a centaur shooting a bow and is a representation of the zodiac sign Sagittarius, as evidenced by the inscription at the bottom. It is made of an alloy of tin and lead, but it is definitely not zinc. The metal is very heavy and quite soft. It was probably made in the 20th century and is quite different from ancient depictions of centaurs. I really like the centaur's head. It reminds me a little of images of brave Indian chiefs.

It is small. It is 14 cm high, 8 cm wide, and 12 cm long. The base measures 13 by 9 cm. I do not know who the author is. I bought it in France, and judging by the language of the inscription, it was made there.
