In fact, it was only when looking at the oldest Beninese bronzes that I saw a certain similarity. The ornaments were somewhat similar. The roosters decorating the spoon handle could have come from Benin. The style of the animals depicted reminded me of Beninese art.

I give up. I'm selling it, even though I don't really know what it is. Of course, it's a ceremonial 20th-century spoon associated with tribal culture. But that's all I can say for sure about it. I don't know where it was made. I can't even say which continent it came from. Well, I can rule out Europe. The spoon could just as well have been made in Africa, Asia, one of the islands of Oceania, or Australia.

A long search for a similar one has been unsuccessful.

I am not even claiming that it was made in that area. I am only wondering whether the artist who made the spoon was inspired by old Beninese bronzes. But this is pure speculation.

The spoon is 23 cm long and 5 cm wide.
