The work refers to antiquity. It brings to mind Greek statues ravaged by the passage of time.

I have sold a similar sculpture before. It was signed in the same way. At the time, I was looking for connections between the sculpture and Mary Callery, a wealthy American artist who spent her creative career in Paris and was friends with many prominent artists working in France before the war. Today, I am no longer so sure.

What I am sure of, however, is that the sculpture came from the same chisel, or more precisely, from the same fingers, because the model for the sculpture was made of clay. Perhaps the sculpture is even a portrait of the same young man.

It is made of synthetic material imitating bronze. So effectively that I was fooled and when I bought the sculpture, I was convinced that I was buying a head made of bronze. You have to pay for your mistakes, so at the price I set, I will not recover the amount I paid myself.

This does not change my opinion of this sculpture. I still think it is beautiful, made by an artist who knows his craft and is able to achieve the desired effect with ease.

It is interesting that the previous sculpture appears frequently in search results, while I have not been able to find this one.

The sculpture is 22 cm high, 11 cm wide, and 11 cm deep. It is placed on a base, probably made of plaster, measuring 12 by 12 by 4 cm.
