Black conceptual sculpture by Pablo Szabelsky

It is known that the artist was born in 1914 in St. Petersburg. Pablo's father died during the civil war in Russia and his uncles brought him to Spain as a nine-year-old boy. I found nothing about his education and artistic studies in the sources available to me. As well as about his private life and the development of his artistic path. Many of his works appear at world auctions in the USA, France and Great Britain. Szabelsky is known as an art patron and has donated twelve sculptures by Jorge Oteiza to the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Santander, Spain. He is known in Spain as an important and generous art collector, one of his donations to the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Santander is valued at about EUR 300,000. One of the portals claims that his contribution to the development of contemporary art in Spain is "decisive and patronising".

Szabelski's sculptures are abstract, heavy in structure, in my opinion referring to art-brut.

The offered sculpture escapes my critical analysis, I have too little knowledge of art history to classify it. It is a variation on the human figure. It is made of dark brown patinated, 39 cm high and 12 cm wide, signed "Szabelsky". Most of Pablo Szabelsky's sculptures are unique.
