The ceilings and some of the walls of these buildings were entirely covered with painted panels. I feel genuine admiration when looking at photographs of the interiors of these buildings. The more enthusiastic art critics compare their significance to that of Gothic cathedrals in Europe.

The sculpture has changed significantly over the years. Initially, it was almost a stick with a large head, but now it is an almost fully three-dimensional sculpture of a woman surrounded by her offspring. The only thing that remains unchanged in the sculpture is the large, round head symbolizing the moon, which is the embodiment of the goddess responsible for fertility.

According to Luluwa beliefs, the figure of the chief is inhabited by the spirits of ancestors. It protects the village and individual households. It enhances the authority of the ruling chief, who is responsible for the continuity of tribal traditions and connection with the beliefs of previous generations.
