PLN700.00The subject that brought him worldwide fame was Biafra. The civil war in Nigeria caused famine and the death of thousands of innocent people. The immediate impulse for the creation of a series of sculptures, mainly in bronze, was a photograph of a Nigerian child. The artist traveled with these sculptures to many countries around the world, sharing his pain caused by unjust and undeserved death. While reading studies on the subject, I came across the opinion that this series is one of the most outstanding Argentine sculptures of all time.

PLN700.00The figure of the saint has been only roughly sketched out, consisting of two geometric shapes. Despite this, we can see a woman in archaic robes, clearly corresponding to our schematic ideas of what a "saint" should look like.

PLN700.00The silhouettes of two fighting capricorns form a harmonious whole, and although fighting is usually associated with chaos and dynamism, this composition seems static. Even the asymmetry of the candlestick does not disturb it. The artist used minimalist geometric forms to tell us that everything in this fight is predetermined, no blood will be shed, that it is only about establishing the position of the alpha male, that this is how it has always been in nature.

PLN700.00And although, like steampunk, it uses elements of existing material reality, it is closer to constructivism or futurism, which assume a connection between man and machine, rejecting the relics of the past, rejecting decorativeness, and subordinating art to human needs.
